Meeting Minutes, January 9th,  2012

 The Grand Knight SK Raul E. Estrellado brought the meeting to order at 8:20 PM

Roll call was taken:

Old Business:

  • Reading of the minutes of December 12, 2012 meeting:
  • Motion by SK Don Miller to wave the  minutes—seconded—approved.
  • Grand Knight’s report and recent events:
  • The parish pancake breakfast was a success reported by James  Mangan, chairman.
  • Membership drive did not bring new members as intended.
  • December 17th Christmas party was a great success  chaired by SK  Kevin V. Fassett.
  • Blood drive was a success chaired by Chris Berndt.
  • Letter of resignation written by SK  Gene Elliott read by Grand Knight Raul Estrellado
  • SK  Joe Borowski made  a motion to acccept the resignation and seconded by Raymond Feidler.
  • A vote was taken to accept James J. Mangan as the new Deputy Grand Knight and approved.
  • Knight of The Month award was presented to James J. Mangan  for the fine job he did with the parish  pancake breakfast.

Treasurer’s Report – presented by Glenn Bolt.

  • Checking  $4,074.49.
  • Money Market account
    $7,079.64.
  • Estimated Checking account balance after bills are paid  $3,421.71

Reading of Communications:

  • Several letters from various organizations were read  requesting donations. All were denied.
  • Financial Secretary’s report by SK  Louis Clarizio:
  • Bills for Dues were sent to 162 members and 41 members have  paid so far.
  • Tootsie Roll drive set for September 21st, 22nd  and 23rd  2012.

Reading of the bills:

  • SK  Kevin Fassett  $578.33 for the Christmas part expenses
  • Per capita for Rockford Diocese  $33.00
  • SK  Steven Schafer for  new banner materials $109.90
  • SK  Joe Borowski  for Membership Directory  $75.00
  • Post Office $44.00 mailing expenses
  • Distribution of example of new banner prompted discussion of  wordings on the banner.
  • All agreed after discussion.
  • Bills were approved and signed by first and third year  Trustees.

Program Director - James J. Mangan requested reports from  Program Chairmen.

Membership - no report

Communications – no report

Youth - Joe Reeder reported on upcoming Free Throw Contest.

Pro Life - chairman SK Dan Biggins reported on the March on Washington DC .

Blood Drive - no report.

Rosary - chairman Glenn Bolt reminded us that he needed more  participation from the membership.

Publicity – chairman SK  Steve Schafer reported on the up dated Council  web site.

Retention - chairman SK Bob Grant reported he will begin notification to non paid member’s  arrears in the years that they will be dropped from the membership roll. Also  he explained that this will not take place all at once. District Deputy Mark  Halper explained that there is a medical disability excuse that can be used for  members with issues.

New Business –

  • Thursday hot lunch chairman Glenn Bolt reported that the program was going well and would net our Council approximately $250.00 for  January and would continue for four more months.
  • Announcement for the January 21st and 22nd  Winter Close Drive was put in the parish bulletin for the next Sunday.
  • Trivia Night at St Catherine’s was announced by Glenn Bolt.
  • SK Steve Schafer outlined his work at PADS where he and his  wife had made a dinner and provided entertainment the week before Christmas.

Fourth Degree Report by SK  George J. Gemberling:

  • The next meeting of the Fourth Degree will be held on  January 24th at St. Monica’s in Carpentersville. All 3rd  degree members are encouraged to become 4th  degree members as soon as possible.
  • Next 4th degree exemplification will be February  11th and April 21st.

District Deputy SK Mark Halper’s report:

  • Semi Annual District meeting for Directors will be held on  January 26th, Thursday at 7:30 PM. at St. Margaret Mary in  Algonquin.
  • Rockford District meeting will be held on January 24th  in Byron Ill.
  • 1st, 2nd and 3rd Degree will be held on January 29th in Arlington Heights
  • 1st Degree will be held on February 16th in Algonquin
  • 1st Degree will be held on February 19th in Crystal Lake
  • Over $154,000,000 was donated by the K of C’s this past year world wide.
  • Free Throw, District Level on February 25th at St. Margaret Mary in Algonquin
  • State Conference will be held on May 4th, 5th and 6th at the Westin Hotel in Lombard, Illinois.
